SECME Essay/Mousetrap Car Competition

On Saturday, March 4, 2017, YWCPA SECME students competed in the Houston Regional SECME Essay and Mousetrap Car competition. We swept the high school essay contest! We also had 1st and 2nd place mousetrap car winners. Our 1st place mousetrap car team, The Munchkins, will go on to represent YWCPA at the SECME National Competition at the University of Alabama this summer. YWCPA STEM makes the Smart List!

Smart List: 100 Middle & High Schools Worth Visiting By   Getting Smart Staff  -   March 28, 2017 12. Girls in STEM.   Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy  opened in 2011 in Houston in partnership with the Young Women’s Preparatory Network (one of eight other similar schools in Texas). They gave a terrific presentation at SXSWedu on coding and robotics.
